Next HSW Meeting

Saturday August 13 at 10 am at Scheels at Legends.

Also online via Google Meet.

Our guest will be Randy Peyser via Google Meet.

GET A BOOK DEAL WITH A PUBLISHER

There’s the book you want to write and the book a publisher – and readers – will buy: Are they the same book?  Literary agents receive 1500+ manuscripts a month. Publishers receive 10,000+ manuscripts a year. If you want to get a publishing deal and more readers, you’ve got to know what publishers (and readers) buy and how to make your book stand out from the pack.

Publishing coach, Randy Peyser, pitches books to agents and publishers through her company, Author One Stop, Inc. www.AuthorOneStop.com.

Randy will tell you exactly what you need to know to get an agent or publisher to offer you a contract.
You will find out:

  • What topics are hot and what’s not.
  • The most essential sales tool you need in order to sell a manuscript to a publisher.
  • The quickest way to get an agent or publisher to stop in their tracks.
  • The 1 thing to absolutely not do if you are serious about getting a publishing contract.
  • How to get cover endorsements when you don’t know anybody who’s famous.
  • The biggest mistakes authors make.
  • The things you absolutely must do to make your book stand out.
  • Details about your writing that publishers always look for.
  • The biggest questions publishers ask before they make a buying decision.
  • How to title your book to maximize your sales potential
  • The pros and cons of traditional publishing versus self-publishing
  • Converting your book to a screenplay that will actually get considered.

MEETING ROOM DIRECTIONS

If you have not been to a meeting at Scheels, here’s how to find us. Enter from the parking lot and go to the escalators/stairs past the aquarium. Go upstairs and turn left past the Abraham Lincoln statue. Beyond the arcade are the restrooms so turn toward them, then go left to the door alongside that has a badge control on it. The door is unlocked and you can go into the hallway where the meeting rooms are the three doors on the left. We usually have two of these rooms, so look for us.

HSW Writers’ Success Stories

High Sierra Writers has quite a few published writers in the group. We have a page featuring the various books grouped by author under genre. These are under HSW Authors link. As our authors release new books, we’ll feature them here.

This month we have a new release from Kelli Heitstuman-Tomko and another published Short story for L.F. Falconer.

Betrayal in Grove Idaho by Kelli Heitstuman-Tomko is the fifth book in her Johnny Lister Mystery Series. In this book, the detective takes on two cases no one else seems to want to pursue, a missing itinerant worker and a runaway dog. With few clues to go on, she has her work cut out for her. As he becomes aware of parallels between the two cases, she begins to wonder if they can be connected. Find out by picking up a copy of Kelli’s book at Amazon.com.

Leanna Falconer writes under her initials and is building a reputation in the horror/paranormal. Her latest published story The Way Order is Maintained appears in Issue #45 of Weirdbook Magazine.  Leanna says, “Since its relaunch 8 years ago, Weirdbook Magazine, a periodic anthology of Dark Fiction and Poetry published by Wildside Press, has published fifteen numbered issues and three Annuals. I am proud to have stories published in two Annuals and five numbered issues. Issue #45 is the latest release and carries my dark, weird tale: The Way Order is Maintained, where the main character is haunted by a recurring shadow in the night. Amazon link.

Please support your fellow HSW members by reading and reviewing their work.
